The Josephine suite is named after Josephine Bonson, who along with her husband Frank, ran the pub from 1938-1970. She is also the mother of current joint proprietor, Christine Vereker and as such, joins us on occasion for a large sherry in the bar. Josephine, or Mrs. B to her many friends, was a little concerned about her name being associated with historically famous mistresses. "Historically famous maybe accurate, but could you drop the mistress bit?" She asked. Luckily, Mrs. B was far more impressed with the room itself, stating that it was a vast improvement on the damp store room which was there during the war. Well that's praise indeed!
